The Patent, Design and Trademark Act, 1965 governs and deals with the mechanism of registration and protection of Industrial Designs in Nepal.

In Nepal, the types of Industrial Design Applications are as follows:

• Non-Convention Application

The Registration Term of the Industrial Design is 15 years from the Date of Registration, with the first renewal due at the end of the 5th year and the second renewal at the end of the 10th year.

The Effective Date of Registration of the Industrial Design is the Registration Date.

In Nepal, the Time Frame for Examination from the Date of Application is 6 months approximately.

An Opposition against the Industrial Design Application can be raised within 3 months from the Date of Publication of the Industrial Design in the Official Gazette.
