The Patent, Design and Trademark Act of 1965, governs and deals with the mechanism of registration and protection of the trademark in Nepal.

The types of the trademark registered and protected are as follows:

• CONVENTIONAL TRADEMARKS including word mark, device mark, collective mark and series mark.
• NON-CONVENTIONAL TRADEMARKS including 3-D mark, color mark, slogan mark and shape mark, position mark and texture mark.
• WELL-KNOWN TRADEMARKS

The 10th edition of Nice Classification is accepted by the Trademark office.

The Opposition Period for the trademark is three months from the Date of Publication of the Trademark in the Official Gazette.

In Nepal, the Initial Trademark Registration term is seven years from the Date of Registration, renewable every seven years on payment of the required fee.

The Grace Period for Trademark Renewal in Nepal is 35 months, and the Non-Use Cancellation Period is one year from the Date of Registration.
